Winter vacations are upon us as we are all craving some fun in the sun. One of my favorite things about going on a trip to the beach is finding the perfect suit to take along with me. I always like to bring a good mix of bikinis and one pieces because I never know how I am going to feel once I get there. Recently, I rounded up some great options for a family (or not) spring break trip to the beach. I’m particularly obsessed with the plunging leopard one piece, as you guys know I love me some cheetah print. The black options are always a good idea for the end of the trip after you’ve been indulging in margaritas and chips and salsa for a week. The bikini’s I chose are high waisted for an ultra flattering fit. I hope you enjoy my selections!
This past week I sat down with Anna to ask her a few questions about what she thought about my job. As far as mom’s (and jobs) go, I am pretty non-traditional and I think it’s funny to hear her perspective. I’ve had this idea for awhile because anytime we talk she surprises me with her adult thinking. It was such a cute exercise and it’s something that we both really enjoyed. I had some questions in mind but as we were talking I changed some of them to do follow ups. I recommend doing it with your kids because it was such a cute moment of connection for us. And yes, sometimes I yell. Needless to say, I will be doing more girl time and am definitely booking a hip hop class for us to take together!
What are my best qualities?
You’re funny, you’re a good mom and you’re cool.
Why do you think I’m cool ?
Because you always just like go with the flow and you just find your way.
What do you think I do for work?
You post instagram videos and instagram stuff and you get paid for it. And you’re a blogger!
What do you think of my job?
It’s interesting because it’s not a traditional job, it’s like different.
What is your favorite thing to do with me?
Take pictures and hang out.
What is one thing you would like to do with me?
Go to Paris.
What do you wish you could change about me?
Sometimes you yell!
Do you like me blonde or redheaded?
Blonde, because it’s the original you and it’s not dye and it’s your original self!
What do you think is the best part about being a girl?
You’re not always as reckless as boys, you wear pretty stuff and you’re not as gross as boys.
What is your first memory of me?
Us cooking together and getting really messy.
What is your most favorite trip we took together?
When we went to Aspen in 2014.
What do you wish we could do more of together?
Girl time, hip hop class.
How cute is she? I guess I’ll be taking a trip to Paris in the near future. I loved this idea for Anna and I can’t wait to do it with Max. I think I’ll make this a yearly tradition and record their answers in a book and give it to them when they go to college. I never finished their baby books so it’s the least I can do.
Real talk guys. How hard is it to put your kids to bed? If it’s easy stop reading and please never contact me again. At my home, it can range anywhere from a minor annoyance to a DEFCON 10 situation. Most of the time it’s somewhere in the middle, but I can tell you one thing: I’m always happy when it’s over. It’s the time that I finally get to myself. Sometimes, I don’t even know what to do with myself. Should I read? Learn a new language? Fall asleep on the couch watching Netflix? The possibilities seem endless. Most of the time I end up finishing work emails that I left by the wayside or read a book that I have been meaning to catch up on. Recently, TruMoo has my heart.
One thing I love to do is treat myself. Nothing crazy. I mean if it’s crazy that’s ok too. But I love a little something to celebrate the day and the transition to the day when it’s all about me. If even just for a sip. I love chocolate. Dark chocolate, wine, and no one touching me is the motherhood trifecta of perfection. When TruMoo asked me to try their new “adult ” milk beverages I was so excited. I love the idea of taking something that normally belong’s to my kids and making it mine. Maybe I’ll talk to my therapist about that one?
I came up with a few steps to treating yourself guilt free :
Put those suckers down. Just do it. You’ve had them all day and now it’s time to stop thinking about them for at least 30 min. You can worry about their future later.
Change into something comfortable. Sweatpants if you’re into that sort of thing. I prefer fancy nighties cause I’M WORTH IT!
Put on some relaxing music.
Grab a book or cue up Netflix.
Pour a glass of your favorite TruMoo flavor, or better yet try all of them and make it like a little wine flight (available at Target or locate your store here ).
Wake up happy that you didn’t down a half bottle of wine but still managed to feel like the bomb ass mom that you are!
