What do you do when your only daughter turns 9 and she is not an easy one to please? Your rent a suite at the Four Seasons and throw a party, duh! Now before you go off and judge me for my seemingly extravagant choice let me tell you about last year. I hosted 12 8 year old ( GREMLINS ) at my home and they completely destroyed it. You guys it was nuts! At one point when there was nothing else to mess up, they started shredding the decorations into tiny pieces. It was like a White Snake pre-party!
Needless to say, I vowed to never have a kid party at my house again. It took a full year to get over the trauma so when I was thinking of ideas for this year, no cleaning and no cooking was key!
A few weeks before I was having lunch with a girlfriend and she asked me how the planning was going. Planning? I thought. What’s that? She offered to help me and this was one of the best decisions I ever made. She recently formed a company called Fetti and Fiz that specializes in kid and adult parties!
One of the reasons we chose the Four Seasons was because of its amazing pool! The kids had an absolute blast swimming in the huge pool and the heated room felt heavenly in the frigid Chicago winter. After the girls swam they took quick showers in the spa, put on robes and headed up to the room for pizza and games!
One of the games that made laugh was ” Spin the bottle.” Nail polish bottles, that is. Each girl would take a turn and whatever color it landed on she had to paint one fingernail that color. Nevermind that my daughter’s toes ended up looking she stuck them in a meat grinder at the end of the night.
The party favors were my favorite. How cute are the personalized eye-masks and pillow cases?
The highlight of the night was definitely the ice cream cart that came to the room. Each child got to make their own sundae. Of course, I had to have a scoop, or 3, of ice cream myself.
Overall I was so impressed with the service at the Four Season’s and by Fetti and Fiz. The combination of the two made it, dare I say it, enjoyable for me! I’m curious to know your thoughts on throwing your kid’s birthdays? Is it something you enjoy or dread or a little of both? Let me know in the comments!
